🎉 Introducing JusPrin 1.0 — The First GenAI 3D Printing Experience

· 4 min read

The Obico team is no stranger to AI-powered innovation in 3D printing. We previously created The Spaghetti Detective, the first open-source AI project to monitor and detect failed 3D prints using computer vision.

Now, we're excited to lead again in the Generative AI era—this time with JusPrin.

👉 No slicing. Just print.

🧠 Why We Built JusPrin

3D printing remains unnecessarily complex for most users—especially the slicing step. While slicing software has become more capable, it's still filled with technical jargon, countless parameters, and trial-and-error guesswork.

JusPrin was born out of a vision:

What if we could delegate slicing expertise to an AI assistant that's always available and personalized to your printer and filament?

Rather than tweaking supports, brims, speeds, or infill manually, we dreamed of an interface where you could simply describe your goal (e.g., "I want this deer to stand steadily with nice antlers"), and the AI figures out the best slicing strategy.

💡 How Does JusPrin Help You?

JusPrin eliminates the traditional slicing complexity by letting you interact with your 3D printer in plain English. Whether you're a beginner or an experienced maker, you'll appreciate how natural and conversational the printing experience becomes.

✨ 1. Just Describe What You Want

Want clean antlers? Strong overhangs? Crisp detail on a figurine?

Simply describe how you want your print to turn out—something like:

"This model has thin antlers—make sure they don't break and print cleanly."

JusPrin uses Generative AI behind the scenes to deduce the optimal slicing parameters: support type, layer height, brim width, and more—without you needing to know the technical details.

🔮 2. Or Just Say "Do the Magic"

Don't know what to ask? Just say:

"Take a look and do the magic."

JusPrin will analyze your 3D model geometry and make intelligent slicing decisions based on best practices. For example, if it detects thin or tall features, it may automatically enable brims or reduce layer height to prevent failure.

🛠️ 3. Need Help with a Failed Print?

You can also turn to JusPrin after something goes wrong. Just say:

"My print failed halfway up the antlers—what should I change?"

JusPrin will help you troubleshoot issues, propose adjustments, and re-slice the model with updated settings. Think of it as your on-call slicing consultant—powered by AI.

🚀 Download & Print in 5 Simple Steps:

  1. Download the latest stable release from the JusPrin GitHub Releases.
  2. Install & Launch JusPrin—no setup or configuration required.
  3. Upload your 3D model (STL, OBJ, or 3MF).
  4. Describe Your Goal to JusBot—or just say "do the magic."
  5. Print with confidence as JusPrin slices your model using AI-optimized settings.

🙏 Special Thanks

JusPrin wouldn’t have been possible without the incredible work done by the open source 3D printing community.

In particular, we want to thank SoftFever, the creator of OrcaSlicer, whose codebase laid the foundation for JusPrin’s slicing engine. OrcaSlicer’s thoughtful design, performance, and openness have made it an outstanding tool—and we’re proud to build upon it.

If you like what JusPrin is doing, we encourage you to also support and star OrcaSlicer on GitHub!

🧠 JusPrin Is Open Source

We believe the future of 3D printing should be open, collaborative, and user-driven. That's why JusPrin is fully open source.

You can explore the source code, contribute improvements, or fork the project to build your own tools on top of it.
